Cat-Exclusive Grooming Salon in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire

Services

Services

We currently offer the following services on an Appointment basis from our Newport Pagnell cats-only Salon:

Claw-clip only

Your cat's claws are clipped by a trained cat grooming specialist, using the correct tool for the job!

Regular claw clipping prevents painful ingrowing claws, and reduces the amount of damage your cat can do to your furniture (and skin!)

Full Dry Groom

Always Included:

  • Claw clip (this is mandatory for groomer safety, unless we decide otherwise)
  • De-Shed/De-Congesting full-coat comb out to reduce shedding, reduce furballs, and prevent build-up of shed fur in the coat (that is what knots are made of!)
  • De-Matting (if applicable): Removal of knots/matts by combing where possible, and shaving them out where not (please note, de-matting add-on fee will apply due to the additional time, work and wear on our equipment)
  • Water-free freshen up and/or conditioning of coat
  • Clean ears
  • Clean eyes/face

Optional additions (additional fees may apply, please discuss during your consultation):

  • Sani clip
  • Trouser fluff trim
  • Lower belly clip
  • Full belly clip
  • Mane (chest fur) trim
  • Paw tuft trim
  • Elective Full Clip*

*Please note that Feline Good discourages elective Full (or "Lion") Clips. The clipper noise and vibration can stress kitty out and result in risk to both your cat and the groomer. Clipping also has risks associated, both during the process (knicking of the skin), and afterwards (skin irritation, patchy re-growth, greater exposure of kitty's delicate skin to UV rays etc). We therefore prefer to keep clipping to the minimum required for your cat's wellbeing, and instead work with you to keep their coat in excellent condition - limiting shedding and matting by grooming him or her regularly. We would recommend a Full Clip only when their matting/pelting is sufficiently severe to warrant it, or it is otherwise necessary for their health and well-being (for example, they are suffering heat stress in hot weather). Not every cat is a suitable candidate for full body clips due to temperament or health reasons, this will be assessed at in-person consultation before we will agree to carry out a Full Clip.

Full Wet Groom

This service is as the Full Dry Groom, with the same "Always Included" and "Optional Addition" elements - except with the addition of a bath with water and shampoo and blow dry.

But, wait... don't cats groom themselves?

Cat Groomers are asked this frequently, and yes, cats do lick themselves all over... a lot. However, we would argue that this is very different to grooming, and you still ought to both groom your cat at home, and have your cat groomed professionally.

Rates

Claw Clip Only Rate: £15/cat

Full Dry/Wet Groom Rates: VARIES, and a quote can only be given once we have examined your kitty in person.
Variables considered: wet/dry groom, cat size, coat length and thickness, degree of congestion in the coat, temperament, degree of de-matting required, any health concerns, any fleas present, elective options requested (such as sani clip, belly clip, ruff trim etc).

Please note that each groom is quoted for at in-person consultation/at the start of the groom, bespoke to the needs and temperament of the cat and requests of the owner; so all rates on this page are always for guidance only.

As a guideline:

Shorthair Full Dry Grooms Start From £55

Shorthair Full Wet Grooms Start From £65

Semi-Long/Longhair Full Dry Grooms Start From £65

Semi-Long/Longhair Full Wet Grooms Start From £80

Elective (Dry) Lion/Full Clips Start From £90 (but please see above for note on elective Full Clips)

Elective (Wet) Lion/Full Clips Start From £105 (but please see above for note on elective Full Clips)
Kittens under 6 months of age will get an introductory discount for their first groom - message us to discuss.

Certain factors will result in a higher groom rate: Presence of matting or pelting: a "de-matting" fee will apply in addition to the groom base-rate, repeat de-matting, inclusion of Elective Optional Extras, extra-large size kitties, very long or thick/dense coat, very challenging behaviour/unusual levels of aggression, presence of fleas (see below), etc.

Feline Good reserves the right to charge bespoke to the work required at each groom, as determined by us in-person at consult/the start of the groom, and irrespective of any estimates provided to you via pre-booking communications or the rate paid at previous grooms.

FLEA-FEES

Feline Good takes great care to prevent the spread of fleas between our clients - or to our own kitties!

Flea-carrying cats are welcome, and will be scheduled as an end-of-day appointment where possible. Please be aware, the following will be automatically applied if relevant:

-
Pre-warned Flea-Fee: When notified at time of booking that fleas are present, a Flea-Fee of £5 will be added to your total balance.

This is to account for the additional time that will need to be scheduled in post-appointment to ensure the salon, equipment and groomer's clothing and hair is 100% flea-free prior to the next appointment, and to cover the cost of the flea treatment products required.

- Surprise Flea-Fee: If fleas are found during a groom, but were not mentioned at time of booking, a Flea-Fee of £10 will be added to your total balance; you will be notified during the groom if fleas are found on your cat.

This is to account for the additional time that will need to be taken post-appointment (at likely short-notice inconvenience/delay to Feline Good and our next client booked in) to ensure the salon, equipment and groomer's clothing and hair is 100% flea-free prior to the next appointment, and to cover the cost of the flea treatment products required.

Regarding House Calls: Please note that Feline Good does not offer House Call appointments: we are 100% salon-based.
